MY STORY
My journey as a writer began in the second grade when I wrote my first story. Upon finishing, I gave it to my mother to read and was promptly grounded for what she termed, "shallow characterization, a meandering pace, and a childish plot." I fell in love. With writing. Not being torn down by a person who was supposed to love and protect me. That was rough.
I went to Rutgers to get an English degree, because I apparently wanted to write and be unemployed. I left, degree in hand, and suddenly realized I had no idea what I was going to do with my life. I knew I wanted to write, but not what. It was then that my brother introduced me to the world of advertising and I fell in love once more.
After a very brief freelancing stint, I was able to get a full time position as a jr. copywriter at DiMassimo Goldstein based almost purely on potential and my willingness to work for old copies of AdWeek. While there I worked on a large swath of clients ranging from finance, to health, goods and services, etc., working in TV, radio, print, digital and social all within my first year.
I then moved on to Publicis Kaplan Thaler which shortly thereafter reached it's final form as Publicis North America. While working on Wendy's I was promoted to Copywriter due in small part to my skill and in large to my frequent and evangelical patronage of the client's stores. I eventually migrated within Publicis to work on Vicks, Red Lobster, Hot Pockets, TriHonda Dealers, and whatever else got thrown my way.
But growth comes only through change and I once again packed up my thesaurus and Wendy’s memorabilia for Wunderman, where I taught dogs how to Tweet for the holidays to help them get adopted, made some TV spots with Venus Williams and some very feisty Canadians, and tackled any and all manner of assignments.
After Wunderman, i began my exodus into the world of Health advertising, getting my feet wet with freelance stints at FCB Health and Saatchi Wellness (twice!), with a brief layover back at Publicis working on Humira. I worked on prominent brands such as Invisalign and Cologuard, creating video concepts, websites and whatever else needed doing. From there, I took my talents to South Street Seaport (Ok, not quite, but it works better for the reference), where I’ve since worked on diabetes care, rare diseases, and even monoclonal antibody treatments for Covid-19.
Now, I find myself at Neon, a health agency in the IPG family, as a creative Associate Creative Director and creative wild card. I rove from brand to brand in need of creative that breaks out of the traditional pharma mold and help deliver creative concepts and tactics. I specialize in full 360 campaigns for existing clients and prospective clients via pitchwork.
I’ve also begun to work as a voice actor as well, creating a home studio and doing both commercial and character work across brands at Neon
Now I seek to continue doing cool stuff with other people’s money so I may utilize my talents for creativity and problem solving in ways few people will ever truly care about.
